The magic word: free

Curious about fencing but not quite sure? Come to your first class for free and find out with a sabre in your hand.

Four club fencers smiling together in a sports hall during a competition

All you need to bring is sports clothes and shoes, a bottle of water, a towel and plenty of enthusiasm to learn. We take care of the rest.

Whatever you may have seen on television, fencing is, above all, a sport. You sweat, you run and you think fast, and everything new you learn, you train with your body. Forget dukes, wealthy aristocrats and challenging someone to a duel by slapping them with a glove.

Still not sure?

Take a look at our 2-for-1 offer. Bring someone along and, if you both sign up, your monthly fee is free.

How it works

Your first class, step by step

  1. 1

    Step 1 of 4

    Warm-up

We always start with a general warm-up based on games, followed by stretching. It breaks the ice and gets you into the swing of things without you noticing.

  2. 2

    Step 2 of 4

    Basic footwork

The coach teaches you the three basic movements: advance (forwards), retreat (backwards) and lunge (the attacking movement). You don't need to know them already, that is what we are here for.

Two children practising fencing in masks in front of the mirrors in the club room
  3. 3

    Step 3 of 4

    Technical and tactical work

We do technical and tactical exercises and then directed or free bouts. The coach will most likely stay with you for a short introductory one-to-one lesson.

  4. 4

    Step 4 of 4

    Final stretching

We finish with stretching to help prevent stiffness and injury. It matters a great deal, and your body will thank you the next day.
